Sweet & Tangy Plum Chutney with Traditional Spices
This homemade plum chutney is a perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and mildly spicy flavors. Made with fresh plums, aromatic spices, and a touch of jaggery or sugar, it pairs beautifully with snacks, grilled meats, and parathas. A must-have condiment to elevate any meal with a burst of fruity freshness.
🧾 Ingredients
- 2 cups ripe plums (washed, pitted, chopped)
- ½ cup sugar or jaggery
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp red chili flakes (optional)
- ½ tsp roasted cumin powder
- 1–2 tbsp vinegar or lemon juice
- ½ cup water
👩🍳 Method
- Add plums and water in a pan. Cook on medium heat until soft.
- Mash the plums lightly while cooking.
- Add sugar/jaggery and mix well.
- Add salt, chili flakes, and cumin powder.
- Cook until chutney thickens (jam-like consistency).
- Add vinegar/lemon juice at the end.
- Let it cool and store in a clean jar.
